Our Pastor

The Reverend G. Maurice McRae, Jr., the first-born child of Deacon Gene McRae, Sr. and Deaconess Rebecca McRae, serves as Pastor-Teacher of the Second Baptist Church of Baldwin, New York. Rev. McRae is a proud native of Brooklyn, New York, and is a son of The Little Rock Baptist Church.

Rev. McRae, Jr. studied Communication and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, Connecticut. He is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at New Brunswick Theological Seminary (NBTS). He has been a recipient of various academic scholarships at NBTS and is on course to graduate Summa Cum Laude in May 2023. He is also highly active in his denominational work with the New York Missionary Baptist Association (NYMBA) where he currently serves as the First Vice Moderator of said Association. God has also afforded Rev. McRae the opportunity to serve as the First Vice President of the New York Progressive Baptist State Convention (NYPBSC).

Rev. McRae was licensed to preach the Gospel on September 30, 2007, under the pastorate of the Late Reverend Dr. Charles B. Dawson and served faithfully as the Pastor-Teacher at his home Church, Little Rock Baptist Church for 10 years. Under his Pastorate, the Church experienced growth spiritually and numerically, which also included major renovation projects and improvements to the edifice.

Since March 1, 2022, Pastor McRae has served as the Pastor-Teacher of the Second Baptist Church of Baldwin, N.Y. He is honored to serve as the eight pastor of a church with such a great history and legacy. In such a quick time, he has infused energy and excitement into the ministry. The Church has grown numerically, financially, and spiritually. In just one year, the Church has, started the Second Baptist Youth Church, (S.B.Y.C), Genesis New Members Ministry, upgraded the sound and media capacity, started the Rise Up and Build Initiative, and established two opportunities for Wednesday Bible Study ​entitled, Walking in the Word at 12 Noon via FB Live and YouTube ​and
Wednesday Night F.I.R.E.​

He is also a member of the National Action Network (NAN) and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

He is married to his lovely wife Latoma and has one daughter Brianna.
